Mt Martha Primary School Visit to Birdsland - A great success!

In September 2013 the Southern Dandenongs Landcare Group hosted 98 children from Mt Martha Primary School for fun and environmental exploration based at Birdsland and the local Monbulk Creek. It was so successful that SDLG plans to run similar experiences for other schools in future.

Southern Dandenongs Landcare Tick Over Another Year

It was terrific to be invited to chair the fifth Annual General Meeting of the Southern Dandenongs Landcare Group (SDLG) at Selby Community House.

I am always impressed by the breadth of activities this group undertakes, there's no doubt they are committed and passionate when it comes to improving our local environment and raising awareness about environmental issues.

In the past year the SDLG have been involved in so many activities. There are some key annual events the group are committed to including Awesome Ornithorhynkids day at Belgrave Lake, Mini Beast Festival at Birdsland and Selbyfest.

Fuelbreak works continue in the Dandenongs

Many of us will have watched with great sadness the fires on the west face of the Dandenongs tonight, Tues 9th April 2013.  We know that these so  fuel reduction burns managed by DSE’s Melbourne Bushfire Protection Program will do nothing to increase community safety in the event of a large bushfire.
