Forming this group is on the SDLG's extensive list of things to do! The trail is well-used but could be made so much better if the ivy, broom and sweet pittosporum were removed to encourage native regrowth. Council has a small budget for the Trail but a Friends group could attract funding for additional work. There is a small tributary of Hazel Vale Creek running through the Rail Trail which, if weeded, would again grow lush treeferns and become an environmental and community asset. We know that various community members collect litter on the Trail but we need a regular band of weeders to assist them.
