We are truly saddened by the tragic event at the Patch in the storm on Saturday night where a tree fell on a house killing a two year old boy and injuring his five year old sister. Investigations are underway but reports indicate the very large eucalypt was rotten and could not not withstand the very high winds. We hope that this awful event won't lead to a spate of local tree removals, the like of which is happening at an unprecedented rate in the Dandenongs. If you are concerned about the health of trees near your house, PLEASE have them assessed by a qualified arborist before removing them. Safety always comes first but we can manage the way we live with trees in the Hills..
