This is stage 1 of the SDLG goal to improve the Belgrave Rail Trail for the community. We will be working on the stretch between Belgrave Station and McNicol Road, Tecoma to restore the area to its former damp forest beauty. There are two small tributaries of Hazel Vale Creek, itself a tributary of Monbulk Creek, which flow under the Trail.
Join residents who live near the Rail Trail for a session with local weed contractor, Sander Groenveld, YRC staff and SDLG volunteers to identify our target environmental weeds which pose a fire hazard and destroy natural bushland. We will learn how to remove these weeds sustainably and the sorts of indigenous plants they could be replaced.
